We reworked and rationalised a patchwork of unsympathetic past alterations to bring this home into quiet equilibrium with its exposed coastal headland site - prominent, public and unforgiving. The site’s east–west orientation demanded better light and better connection between the old and the new. Our response: a central lightwell that binds all three levels - dramatic, practical and a touch whimsical - stitching the old fabric seamlessly to the new.
