Perched high on Collaroy Plateau’s escarpment, this contemporary family home captures uninterrupted views of the Northern Beaches while fully meeting BAL Flame Zone requirements. The brief asked for openness to host large gatherings, balanced with quiet, intimate retreats. We achieved this by clearly separating public and private zones: expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing opens the living areas to nature and connection, while intentionally framed picture windows in bedrooms curate privacy and focused views.
Materiality reinforces the distinction - concrete, steel and glass ground the public level, giving way to warmer timber, painted brick and copper on the upper private floor. The result is a home that’s calm and secure when needed, yet vibrant and welcoming when family and friends fill the spaces.
