Bronze Age is a legacy holiday house in the Southern Highlands, set on over 100 acres of rolling countryside. Designed as a gathering place for the extended family to come together for holidays, festivities and celebrations across generations. The brief called for a home that endures for over hundreds of years and to be passed on through generations. Materiality was chosen deliberately for longevity and low maintenance: bronzed metal cladding on the upper volume with its commanding 13-metre double cantilever, paired with robust off-form concrete below to anchor it to the earth. Expansive glazing opens to the vast landscape, while the restrained palette of bronze, concrete and glass ensures the house ages gracefully with minimal intervention. The result is a house that belongs to the land and the lineage of the folk.
