Opposing cantilevers anchor the cliff's brow

Rock Stack

New Residential

Under Construction

Perched on Bungan Beach's dramatic escarpment, Rock Stack is a new coastal residence shaped by bold cantilevers - akin to a rock stack, that anchors the house to the cliff's brow. The brief requested a family home that captures sweeping ocean views while feeling grounded and private. We designed rigorously: two cantilevered floors extend in opposing directions, generating tension and balance attuned to the site's steep topography. A restrained material palette - the lower floor dark aluminium and concrete for strength and grounding; the upper floor light timber for lift and contrast. Expansive glazing opens interiors to the southern vista.
